A course titled "Great Jewish Thinkers: Pathways to God" will be offered for graduates of the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School of Metropolitan Detroit. Dr. Mitch Parker and Tzvi Schostak, instructors of the Melton program, will explore the writings of great Jewish thinkers. The class, co-sponsored with the Jewish Community Center, will meet weekly on Wednesdays, for 25 weeks at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield, beginning Oct. 1, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. or every other Wednesday, 7-8:30 p.m. for 15 weeks beginning Oct. 1, at the Max M. Fisher Federation Building. All levels of conversational Hebrew from beginning to advanced are offered. Sessions will run for 14 weeks at the Max M. Fisher Federation Building and are taught by Nira Lev, director of Hebrew programs at the Alliance for Jewish Education; Vicky Davidovich, instructor at Hillel Day School, Adat Shalom Synagogue and Temple Israel; Ronit Gutkovitch, an educator in the community; and Tziona Ragowsky, coordinator of the Department of Hebrew Language at Yeshivat Akiva. A special intensive class for Hebrew language and literature for advanced students is offered on Wednesday and Sunday mornings and a total beginner class is offered on Wednesday evenings. A variety of classes, each 10 sessions in length, will be offered on Wednesday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Classes are open to the com- munity. Hebrew I will be taught by Elizabeth Bloch, director of education, at 11 a.m. and at 7 p.m. by Alan Lowen. Hebrew for those wish- ing to strengthen their Hebrew skills and explore Hebrew grammar, will be taught by Lea Beurer Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. or at 8 p.m. Mrs. Beurer will also teach conversational Hebrew on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Tuition for the above classes is $50 for Temple members and $75 for non-members. On Wednesdays at 7 p.m., Rabbi David Castiglione will lead 'An Introduction to Judaism" for prospec- tive converts, non-Jewish partners of Jews and Jews seeking a better under- standing of Judaism. Couples are encouraged to take this class together and will be charged only one fee. Fees are $75 for members and $95 for non-members. Rabbi Castiglione will also lead a monthly breakfast with the rabbi and a bereavement support group. Bereavement support will meet on Tuesdays at 7 p.m., beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2.
