B'nai Moshe Hosts Odyssey Congregation B'nai Moshe has won a Solomon Schechter Silver Award from the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (the organization representing Conservative congregations throughout North America) in the category of wor- ship and ritual for its creative musical Shabbat services, "Shabbat Odyssey." The synagogue will offer the last in its current four-part summer series of Odyssey services on Friday, Aug. 22, beginning at 6 p.m. The service will fea- ture musical instruments and dancing to contemporary as well as traditional Shabbat melodies and will be led by Cantor Earl Berris and Rabbi Riot Pachter. Following the service, at 7:15 p.m., there will be a congregational Shabbat dinner. Cost of the dinner is $18 for adult members, $22 for other adults; $9 for B'nai Moshe children age 4-12, $11 for non-member children age 4-12. There is no charge for children age 3 and under. Reservation deadline for the dinner is Monday, Aug. 18. There is no charge for the service only. The Aug. 22 service and dinner will be preceded at 5:30 p.m. by the formal dedication of the Rabbi Elliot Pachter Information Alcove in the main foyer. The alcove includes an informational video that is on automatic repeat loop throughout Shabbat. Synagogue presi- dent Dennis Deutsch will speak at the dedication ceremony, as will Alcove Chair Alisa Peskin-Shepherd. Cantor Berris will lead celebratory singing. The community is invited.
