Federation Plans
Annual Meeting

The Jewish Federation and the United
Jewish Foundation of Metropolitan
Detroit will hold a combined annual
meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30,
at Congregation Beth Shalom. The
community is invited to attend.
Highlighting the meeting will be the
election and installation of officers and
members-at-large to the Federation
and Foundation boards and the instal-
lation of Allan Nachman, who suc-
ceeds Mark R. Hauser as president of
the Foundation.
In recognition of outstanding leader-
ship and service to the community,
Federation's Fred M. Butzel Award will
be presented to Michael M. Maddin,
past president of the Foundation and
president and managing director of
Maddin, Hauser, Wartell, Roth and
Heller PC.
In corporate partnership with
BankOne, the event is open to the
community. Dessert will immediately
follow the meeting.
There is no cost to attend, but reser-
vations are requested by Sept. 19; call

Volunteer For
Mitzvah Day

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's annual Itsa Mitzvah Day will
be Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Max M.
Fisher Federation Building in
Bloomfield Township.
The event will begin with a free
kosher lunch and a brief orientation at
12:30 p.m. Immediately following,
volunteers will go to work at various
Jewish agencies and volunteer sites.
Mitzvahs will include visiting older
adults and those with disabilities,
working at a food bank, sukkah build-
ing, outdoor beautification and help-
ing with other projects as needed.
Adults and children are welcome.
Families are encouraged to participate

What started as a plan to fix a roof

Bloomfield Township, evolved into a
complete exterior renovation of their
1960s era French colonial.
