lenge, but all I could think of was how
lucky Patty and I are, with three healthy
children and how challenging it must be
for the unfortunate kids being helped by
the Make-A-Wish Foundation."
This by Rick Nessel says much ...
about his 300-mile bike ride to benefit
the wonderful cause.
Rick raised $10,000 ... and the total
amount by the bikers was over
$535,000 ... to grant the wishes of
youngsters with life-threatening ill-
nesses ... The sum raised by Rick and
the others enables Make-A-Wish
Foundation to grant 100 wishes.
He was part of Team WAMmer Jamers
... Rick, Ron Moretti and Larry Fox.
"The smiles these wishes put on
those kids were priceless," says Rick.
WHEN IT FIRST began 10 years
ago, the Night of Good Taste event by
Karmanos Cancer Institute, was held
on a boat ... Then came an art show, a
movie night, etc ... a different format
each year ... until the last four.
All since have been in partnership
with Matt Prentice and his Unique
Restaurant Corporation.
First it was Volcano Grill at Star
Southfield theaters, then Morels in
Bingham Farms, then Milk & Honey
at the Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield.
This year comes "A Night of Good
Taste Goes Fishin'" at URC's Northern
Lakes Seafood at the Radisson Kingsley
Hotel on Woodward ... Thursday, Aug.
21 ... with proceeds again benefiting
the Karmanos Cancer Institute's vari-
ous programs.
Deanna Weisman and Sydrena
Epstein are chairing the event's plan-
ning committee.
