attack that killed seven people in
Jerusalem's French Hill neighborhood.

Alleged Nazi
Loses Citizenship

New York/JTA — A federal judge
revoked the citizenship of an alleged
Nazi Germany concentration camp
guard.
U.S. District Court Judge Allyne
Ross in New York ruled July 31 that
Jakiw Palij, 79, lied on his 1949 visa
application about having been an
armed guard at the SS labor camp
Trawniki.

Crown Heights
Sentencing Soon

New York/JTA — The family of the
Chasidic man killed in the Crown
Heights riots of 1991 is seeking
a life sentence for the man convicted
of violating his civil rights.
But lawyers for both sides have said
that the law only allows a 10-year sen-
tence for Lemrick Nelson.
Earlier this year, a jury found that
Nelson violated Yankel Rosenbaum's
civil rights, but it did not convict him
of causing Rosenbaum's death.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 15.

Israel: Al Qaida
In Territories

Israel told the U.N. Security Council
that Al Qaida has infiltrated
Palestinian areas. In a report to the
Security Council on Tuesday, Israel
said that operatives of the terrorist net-
work had tried to enter Israel with for-
eign passports to carry out attacks.
Israel's report also accused Al Qaida
of strengthening its propaganda in
Palestinian areas. "Examples include
leaflets signed by 'The Bin Laden
Brigades in Palestine,' inciting to
`jihad' against Jews and promising to
continue 'in the footsteps of Osama
bin Laden,'" the report said.
