To his wife, Dr. Kati Rossmoore, he was a treasure. Dr. Harold Rossmoore, 78, of West Bloomfield, professor emeritus of bio- logical sciences at Wayne State University in Detroit and founder and president of Biosan Laboratories Inc., died July 28, 2003, of leukemia. The holder of seven patents, Dr. Rossmoore wrote 100 journal articles and eight book chapters as well as authoring or editing four books. Born in 1925, in the Bronx, N.Y., he graduated from a prep school at 16 and attempted to enlist in the Army Air Corps in 1942, but failed the eye exam. After majoring in chemical engineer- ing at City College of New York, he enlisted in the army and served as a lab technician in a MASH unit during the last two years of World War II. After his service, he enrolled at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, a master's in pharmaceutical chemistry and a doctorate in microbi- ology before landing a job at Wayne State in 1954.
