I recently returned from Hadassah's
Young Leader's Mission to Israel. Our
nine-day trip focused on the work of
Hadassah in Israel.
We visited both Hadassah hospitals
in Jerusalem (Mount Scopus and Ein
Kerem). Ein Kerem is the only level-
one trauma center in Jerusalem, so all
of the most serious trauma cases end
up there.
A touching part of our trip was
hearing survivors of terror attacks
share their stories. All told about
Hadassah's role in their recovery,
whether through medicine, social
work and-or rehabilitation, Hadassah
had made an important impact on
their lives.
We visited Hadassah Neurim, a
youth aliyah village, which is a board-
ing school for children who are disad-
vantaged, troubled or without par-
ents. We had lunch with some of the
students, some of whom originated
from Poland, Russia and Ethiopia.
I was repeatedly amazed at how
Hadassah is such an important part
of Israeli society. I could go on and
on, as it seemed that everywhere we
went, Hadassah is involved in helping
Israel and her people. I am so proud
of the work we do here in America in
support of Hadassah and Israel.

non-Jewish, young and not so young
— from all over the world, was a
privilege and a meaningful way not
only to stand with Israel, but also
contribute, in a modest way, to her
defense and to learn about the ethical
and courageous decisions the Israel
Defense Forces makes every day, deci-
sions manifested even in a battery
replacement program to ensure sol-
dier safety.

were able to give.
