Ever wonder what some of Detroit Jewry's most public
figures enjoy when they indulge in a dish of ice cream? Here
are some favorites:

Are You Puzzled?

Rabbi Paul Yedwab of Temple Israel loves coffee-flavor ice cream.
Florine Marks of Weight Watchers is partial to Edy's fat-free, sugar-
free vanilla, topped with fat-free Cool Whip, which she says, "is heaven.
Max and Marjorie Fisher enjoy turtle sundaes — vanilla ice cream
topped with caramel syrup and nuts.
Attorney Herschel Fink likes "any flavor," so long as it's topped with
Sanders milk-chocolate hot fudge.
Rabbi Daniel Nevins of Adat Shalom Synagogue enjoys Starbucks java
chip.
Attorney Sam Bernstein likes a nice dish of mandarin chocolate.
Professor and Holocaust historian Sidney Bolkosky likes Abbot's
Custard chocolate, "but it's sold only in Rochester, N.Y."
And Detroit Pistons owner William Davidson likes "any
flavor but vanilla."

Chocolate lovers of the world,
where are you?

According to Information Resources, Inc., sales of chocolate is
cream at grocery stores fall way behind the humble vanilla.
The Top Five:
Vanilla (28 percent)
Chocolate (8 percent)
Neapolitan (7 percent)
Butter Pecan (4.5 percent)
Chocolate Chip (3.5 percent)

There are no known surveys of the Jewish community's favorite flavor; but the
University of California-Los Angeles Helton, the Jewish student magazine, con-
ducted an informal poll of Baskin-Robbins favorites.

The winners:
Mint chocolate-chip (28.6 percent)
Espresso 'n cream (28.6 percent)
Vanilla (21.4 percent)
Chocolate (14.3 percent)

Send Ice Cream
To The ID!'

You've sent them pizzas and pop, now why not
take an Israeli soldier out for ice cream?

Just this month, Pizzaidf.org — a Web site that allows guests to send
pizza to members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) — added ice cream to
its venue.
For just $2.89, you can send a large cornetto (aka a drumstick) to one
Israeli soldier. (Please note that there is a minimum order of five ice
creams). And don't worry — these won't be soggy or completely melt-
ed versions of the real thing: The ice-cream truck will deliver your
treat directly to the soldiers.
