angles to catch the many poses is cause
for a lot of smiling thrills by pet owners.
It's a real fun experience for her ...
One that has turned into a second liveli-
hood ... A year ago, going to Tucson,
Ariz., to participate in a photography
workshop given by Linda Solomon,
noted photojournalist here, Marcia's
hobby became the culmination of an
exciting passion ... Especially after Linda
told her of the wonderful talent she pos-
sessed.
Marcia has two dogs ... a cockapoo
named Tasha, and a Tibet terrier called
Jake ... So her awareness of the love peo-
ple have for their pets is a very close
association.
A showing of Marcia's work is not
about pets ... There's sure to be another
one forthcoming that will show off this
great ability of hers ... The present show-
ing is at the Franklin Grille in Franklin
... and is of old downtown Tucson in
photography that looks like water color
... and runs through the end of July.
Pet owners can call Marcia at (248)
932-0797 ... A portion of all pet pho-
tography is being donated by her to the
Michigan Humane Society.
A LOT OF PRIDE by cousins
Elmer and Hilda Raskin ... with
announcement that their son,
Kenneth Raskin, is the newly named
assistant conductor of the fine North
Carolina Symphony Orchestra.
He was chosen after auditions and
interviews from 125 applicants and six
finalists.
Ken has been conductor of the San
Francisco Bay Area Concerto
Orchestra since 1995 ... and what a
thrill it must have been when he was
guest conductor at the University
Philharmonic at University of
Michigan School of Music ... where
Ken received his master of music in
orchestra conducting.
Before pursuing his conducting
career, he was a professional orchestral
trumpeter with the Haifa Symphony
Orchestra in Israel.
MORE PROUD COUSINS ... Jay
and Marion Grant, who watched their
grandson Adam Grant, graduate
magna cum laude in psychology from
Harvard University ... He'll attend
University of Michigan for his Ph.D.
in psychology ... and also teach while
there.
REUNION DEPT ... Big fun is in
store for the bevy of Detroit Central
High January and June graduating
classes of 1948 ... Their 55th shindig
will be Sunday, Aug. 31, 5:30 p.m. ...
at Northfield Hilton on Crooks Road
in Troy ... For more info, contact
