From design to finish, styles are worked until they meet our standards. ummer is officially here, and there's no better way to spend a weekend afternoon than attending the many wonderful outdoor art fairs in our area. From the colorful art exhibits to the food vendors and free entertainment, it's truly a summer experience. In addition to the ever-popular Ann Arbor Art Fairs, we've included a list of fairs from Brighton to Shelby Township. Have you ever wondered about the artists on the art fair circuit? They sit in those cramped booths all day long, munching on fast food in the sweltering heat, listening to people discuss their work as if they were not there. And what about when it rains? It must be lonely. Well, I asked jewelry designer Marcy Feldman to write about her experi- ences on the road. "Our children liken us to carnival people and call us `carnies' because every other weekend, we set up our tent in a different city," wrote Feldman. I think you will find Marcy's first-hand account interesting and enlightening. After the art fairs, how about a day at the beach? We've put together some products to make your days sunnier. Also in our July issue, read about two interesting events. Style at the Jewish News features the Yeshiva Beth Yehuda Auction and the Young Israel of Oak Park cholent competi- tion. Yes, a cholent competition. Inspired by the Food Network's "The Iron Chef," Lisa Winer approached Rabbi Spolter about creating this event. Kudos to all involved, including cholent champ Dennis Yashinsky and writer Lynne Schreiber. Speaking about food, just look at the sandwich, in the photo above, from Brooklyn Bagel in Bloomfield Hils.
