JVS Elects
Board Chair
Elizabeth Kanter Groskind of
Huntington Woods was elected to a one-
year term, commencing July 1, as the
chair of the JVS board of trustees. She is
a former partner and current sales and
registered representative at Kanter
Associates-American Benefits Group. She
also is the founder of Volunteer Impact,
an organization dedicated to making a
difference in Detroit through hands-on
volunteerism.
Other officers who were elected are
vice chairs David Foltyn, Elaine
Fieldman and Leo D. Maxbauer; secre-
tary, Arnold Mikon; treasurer, Joshua
Mondry.
Re-elected to three-year terms are
Michelle Gilbert, Robert Hertzberg, Dr.
Sherman Kay, Jerold Levine and Barbara
Tukel. New board members who will
serve a three-year term are Richard
Blumenstein, Mitchell Bleznak, Douglas
Bloom, Harriett Cooper, Nate Forbes,
David Jaffe, Julie Nelson, Barbara
Nusbaum and Diane Siriani.
JCC Offers
Getaways
The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit's travel department
will offer several short getaways. Trips are
open to the entire community
The JCC travel department will offer
a trip to the Shaw Festival Aug. 5-7. The
trip includes round-trip transportation,
two nights accommodation and tickets
to On the Twentieth Century and
A trip to Stratford will be offered Sept.
16-17. The trip includes tickets to Gigi
and The Hunchback of Notre Dame with
one night's accommodation.
The JCC travel department will offer
an upper Michigan trip Sept. 8-11. The
trip includes a Soo Locks boat and tours
of White Point Lighthouse Station and
Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, a
horse-drawn carriage tour of Mackinac
Island and lunch at the Grand Hotel,
and a performance of LHarmonie, a
musical tribute to the 21st century.
The highlights of Pittsburgh and
Frank Lloyd Wright's homes will be
offered Oct. 8-10. The trip includes a
visit to the St. Vincent College Gristmill,
a tour of Wright's Falling Water and
Kentucky Knob and admission to the
Mountain Playhouse, Clayton: The
Henry Clay Frick Mansion and Andy
Warhol Museum.
