The Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Michigan, an independent, non-
profit home health care organization, conferred its highest honor for a home
health aide, the Sandra M. and Alfred I. Sherman Award, to Amanda L.
Williams of Detroit.
Residents of Bloomfield Hills, the Shermans created an endowment in
2000 to applaud the contributions to home health care that the home health
aides provide.
Sandra Sherman has been a VNA board member since 1968. Her husband,
Dr. Alfred Sherman, who has spent 57 years as a physician, teacher and men-
tor, was honored by the VNA last year with the Isabelle Thomas Community
Health Award for his dedication to obstetrical gynecology.
Founded in 1898 and headquartered in Oak Park, VNA provides home
care and hospice services to residents of metro Detroit.
