"The feel of Mumford permeated the
evening. Each table represented nostal-
gic Mumford locations such as Darbys,
Fredsons, Wy-7 Bowling Lanes,
Sanders, Cupids, Seven and Eight Mile
roads, Livernois, Totem Pole, Elvis
Presley. The decor was entirely maroon
and blue, including the table linens,
napkins and balloons. 32 pounds of
Sanders Hot Fudge was flown in for
dessert sundaes. The dance floor was
worn thin because the music was noth-
ing less than fabulous. It was coordinat-
ed by Cornelius Grant (1961) who
spent 20 years as the guitarist and song-
writer for the Temptations.
"The attendees were mosdy residents
of California, Arizona, Texas, Colorado,
New Mexico, Washington and Hawaii.
"Dining and dancing were Gail
Chicorel Shapiro, Caryl Prujan, Bunny
and Bonnie Woolf, Joni Miller, Stanton
Moss, Gloria Moss Orecklin, Mark
Gottesman, Linda Allowicz, Don
Castleman, Walter Dishell, Robin
Stearn, Alan and Sandy (Starman)
Croll, Ginger Sandler, Burton Disner,
Gary and Suzy Rubin, Connie Lewis
Lapin, Carole Lewis Jaffe, Jimmy and
Suzie (Cohen) Gottfurcht, Patty Mohr
Bell, Maxine Drexler Gold, Paula
Tendler Miller, Nick Stearn, Jackie •
Kaplan Kallen.
"A few still-Detroiters flew in for the
festivities. Doreen Curtis Hermelin,
Susu Miller Sosnick, Irwin and Judy
Elson, Lois (Rosner) and Alvin Rubin,
Sandy Schrut Weiswasser joined us
locals.
"The next day brought more nostal-
gia in a less-formal venue. A wonderful
catered picnic was enjoyed by 150 par-
ticipants who wanted the moments to
linger."
