Mary Fisher, a 1966 Bloomfield
Hills Cranbrook Kingswood gradu-
ate, and a writer and founder of
the Family AIDS Network, and Dr.
Joel Cohen, a 1961 Cranbrook
graduate, and a professor of popu-
lations at Rockefeller University
and Columbia University in New
York City, have been named
Cranbrook Community Schools'
2003 Distinguished Alumni Award
recipients.
Rabbi Marci Rayna Bloch, former-
ly of West Bloomfield, received her
ordination from the Hebrew Union
College-Jewish Institute of Religion
in New York. She will be the assis-
tant rabbi of the
Indianapolis
Hebrew
Congregation in
Indianapolis, Ind.
Monica Woll of
West Bloomfield
has been recognized
for outstanding

commitment to
community service
with a 51,000 grant through the
Comcast Foundation Leaders of
Tomorrow Scholarship Program.
She is a 2003 graduate of the
Jewish Academy of
Metropolitan
Detroit and will
attend the
University of
Michigan in Ann
Arbor in the fall.
Andrew Fischer, 8,

School in Walled Lake and
Congregation B'nai Moshe,
received the Macabee Award,
offered by the National Committee
on Jewish Scouting. To earn the
award, he had to demonstrate flu-
ency in six areas of Judaism,
including Hebrew knowledge, holi-
days and their meanings, leaders
and heroes, symbols, practice and
community helpers. He is a mem-
ber of Pack 238 in Walled Lake.
Ashley Bloom of West Bloomfield
has become a member of Phi Sigma
Theta National Honor Society at
Michigan State University in East
Lansing. She is the daughter of.Dr.
Robert and Randee Bloom.
