The prestigious Lookingglass
Theater Company of Chicago inaugu-
rated its new facility June 10. DAVID
SCHWIMMER, of Friends fame, was
among those attending the ribbon-cut-
ting ceremony. Schwimmer was a
drama student at Northwestern when
he co-founded the company in 1988.
The company's first play in its new

Race runs through Aug. 10.
Schwimmer co-wrote the play and is
producing it. He has been working on
Race since 1998, but his friendship
with Terkel, 91, dates back to his stu-
dent days, when Terkel came to see a
Lookingglass production of The
Jungle.
The Lookingglass production fea-
tures an ensemble cast of 20 actors
and re-creates Terkel's interviews about
race relations in Chicago through

Chicago papers report the rumor is
that the Los Angeles-raised
Schwimmer will settle in Chicago after
Friends concludes its run next season.
Schwimmer told ABC News in
Chicago, "Any time I'd be in Los
Angeles and start to feel adrift or feel
— start to question my own ability or
kind of lose my way, you know,
because of either the celebrity or the
seven years of waiting tables before
Friends hit, every time I would come
back to Chicago.
"It's a grounding kind of experience
for me. That's why I call it my home
and where my heart is."

Rosie Returns

ROSEANNE BARR, the most famous
Jewish entertainer from Utah, returns
to network television Aug. 6, with the
premiere of her ABC show The Real
Roseanne Show.
This "reality series" — a show with-
in a show — will follow Roseanne as
she develops her new TV series,
Domestic Goddess. Goddess is a cooking
and lifestyle program that will air this
fall on the ABC Family cable station.
