Arts & Entertainment The Jewish connection is revealed as the exhibit 'Bond. James- makes its North American debut. elebrating 40 years of James Bond in film, a major exhibit of Bond memorabilia opens Saturday, June 28, at Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. The exhibition, titled "Bond. James Bond," explores the science and the art of the Bond films through a huge collection of original 007 objects, images, concept drawings, story- alf 6/27 2003 74 boards and costume designs. Visitors will be drawn into the world of James Bond via glitzy, multimedia sections that include informa- tion on the "real" Cold War; material about the actors and others associated with the Bond films; and displays of the gadgets and props used in the flicks. In somewhat Disneyland style, the end of the exhibit, sold out during its six-month London run, allows visitors to experience a Bond "film finale" as a villain's lair is blown up. This is definitely a hands-on exhibit. Visitors become "000 agents" upon entering and are grant- ed a "Q-Branch" smart card that can be used to access info in the "MI6" database as well as activate different features within the exhibition. No doubt, the exhibit's M16 database will not cover the Jewish connections to the Bond films. But if you secure this article to your person before visiting the exhibit and consult it frequently —or commit it to your memory —you can enhance your Bond experi- ence by your knowledge of the "not-so-secret" Bond Jewish connection. Once you absorb and process the following information, you will be rated "Oy-Oy-7." Nate Bloom is based in Oakland, Calif, where he is the editor of jewhoo.com .
