THINK SPRING WITH Martin Kollenberg, playing with Jewish News-ites Dave Neill, associate publisher, and Rick Nessel, account executive, plus Jim Dales and Mark Morgenroth ... holing a gorgeous 60- foot eagle putt ... Later recalling finally finding a pro years back who taught him the finer points of golf ... 'And he goes off to become a minister instead of staying a golf pro." The "Mondry Team" was all Mondry ... At least four of the five were ... How Tom Cohn snuck in nobody knows. Outside dining was sumptuous ... with tables everywhere on the Tam O'Shanter back lawns and porch ... covered by linen tablecloths and silver- ware wrapped in linen napkins. The various stations held filet mignon, lamb chops, Caesar salad, pasta, shrimp, veggies, desserts, etc., etc., etc. ... Also cold drinks and beer galore. Myron Milgrom always well dressed, playing golf and then changing into a blue jacket, blue sport shirt and blue slacks ... "Who can eat again," asked Myron, "after so much food and snacks at the holes?" Seymour Brode also didn't look like he had played golf ... sharp in his change to beige jacket, tan sport shirt and tan pants. Ticket for the beautiful BMW con- vertible to be given in a drawing was bought by Steve Greenberg, Hank's son, who gave the ducat to Herb Allen because he didn't think it would be right for him to win the car at an event named after his father ... Steve turned out to be a psychic ... His ticket won... And the BMW was donated back to the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation. At the banquet-showtime, probably one of the best yet, a rendering was shown that brought much applause for a fantastic announcement ... That the new Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame will soon be forthcoming ... and that a painting of the late co-founder and second president Billy Jacobs would hang in a wonderful honor ... $100,000 donated by Billy's son Robert Jacobs and daughter Monni Must, will help big time in completing the new Hall of Fame at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. The banquet ceremony could hardly have been any better ... And very few left because it was so interesting ... Doug Brown, former Red Wing, Dave Winfield, baseball Hall of Famer, Jerry Kramer, ex-Green Bay all-pro lineman, Dolph Schayes, former basketball star and coach ... were led by sportscaster- emcee Jeremy Schaap in a question- and-answer period with queries from him ... and the audience.
