Elyssa Rivka Juni, daughter of Jack and Rochelle Juni, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, June 21, at Congregation Beth Shalom. She is the granddaughter of Elliot and Rachel Juni of Ann Arbor and David and Barbara Ronis of Gaithersberg, Md. She is also the granddaughter of the late Geraldine Ronis. Her proud sister is Eva Juni, a sophomore at Berkley High School. Elyssa is a seventh-grade student at Roeper Middle School in Birmingham. She enjoys music, art, biking and read- ing. She especially looks forward to spending her summers at Tamarack Camps. For her mitzvah project, Elyssa visited seniors at the American House Apartments in West Bloomfield. Aaron Michael Kaatz, and Joel Alan Kaatz will be called to the Torah at Temple Emanu-El as b'nai mitzvah on Saturday, June 21. They are the children of Susan and Steve Kaatz. Proud Aaron Kaatz grandparents are Paul and Polly Kaatz of Longboat Key, Fla., and Eileene Berke of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the late Leonard Berke. Aaron is a seventh- grade honor student at Norup Middle School Joel Kaatz in Oak Park. He is active in soccer and basketball leagues and enjoys football, floor hockey, playing simulation games and going to the recreation center. He also likes camping and other activities with the Y Guides Tribe. He has done mitzvah work at Yad Ezra in Berkley, Habitat for Humanity in Detroit and with various other groups. Joel is also in seventh grade at Norup, where he is an honor student. He enjoys sports, including football and in-line . hockey and he plays in soccer and bas- ketball leagues. He also enjoys camping. In his free time, Joel likes being with friends at the recreation center and going to movies. She is the granddaughter of Joel Katz of Chestnut Hill, Mass., and the late Joanne Katz, Frank and Louise Jones of Boynton Beach, Fla., and the great-granddaughter of Ruth Goldstein of Brookline, Mass. Sarah is an honor student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills, where she participates in choir and track and was selected for the state honors choir. She enjoys performing in musical theater, traveling and vacation- ing in Maine in the summer. For mitz- vah projects, Sarah volunteered when Temple Kol Ami housed the South Oakland Shelter and is a madricha (aide) in the Kol Ami religious school.
