E

ighty volunteers from four congregations took part in a cleanup along
Walnut Lake Road in West Bloomfield on May 18 during Michigan
Week.
Participating congregations were Temple Israel, Temple Kol Ami,
Prince of Peace Catholic Church and West Bloomfield United Methodist
Church, all part of the West Bloomfield Clergy Association.
Following a pizza lunch kickoff, work groups hit the roadside to collect trash
in this second semiannual cleanup.
"The Adopt-a-Road team collectively collected 62 bags of trash and 2 bags of
recyclables," said event chair Kenneth Lipson of Temple Israel.
Team leaders were Mary Jane Larson from Temple Israel, Lori Fiddler from
Temple Kol Ami, Herb Gardner from Prince of Peace Catholic Church and
Joanna Risk from West Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
The next cleanup is scheduled for September. "We are hoping to have more
congregations involved in this effort," said Lipson. I-1
