Cummings at the annual meeting of the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan 10:45 a.m. Sunday, June 29, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Cummings will speak about the soon-to-be-complet- ed Orchestra Place and its impact on Detroit. The area will include the new headquarters for the Cummings Detroit Medical Center, a new per- forming arts high school, and Orchestra Hall expansion and renova- tions. Cummings is a member of the board of governors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. At the meeting, the JHS will present the 2003 Leonard Simons award to Tillie Brandwine. Robert Kaplow, president of JHS of Michigan, will give the annual report and new board members will be elect- ed. There is a charge for the luncheon to follow the meeting. The scholarships are funded through poppy sales and private donations. Temple Israel will recognize and honor all war veterans as part of their Shabbat service on June 21. In addition, all fallen JWV and auxil- iary members will be memorialized prior to convention business on Sunday, June 22, in a special flower ceremony. The public is invited to the schol- arship program.
