APPLETREE
IS PEACE POSSIBLE?
74 Girls, Guys, Dolls, Fun
o much for hopeful signs emerging from the U.S.-brokered Mideast peace
11Q, talks in Aqaba, Jordan, on June 4. Palestinian-provoked terror this week was as
bad as ever.
When Hamas vows to disrupt any attempts at a lasting peace, Jews everywhere
cannot ignore the warning. In one of the terrorist group's most brazen attacks, a
suicide bomber, disguised as an ultra-Orthodox Jew, blew himself up aboard city
bus No. 14 near Jerusalem's Mahane Yehuda outdoor market. The blast came dur-
ing rush hour Wednesday; at least 16 people died and more than 70 were hurt.
Our coverage begins on page. 12. Make no mistake: Israel is battling terror
bubbling up from the disputed territories just as America is waging war against
terrorists indoctrinated in Afghanistan, Iraq and other radical lands.
World Jewry must support our Israeli brethren.
Amid the horror, may we all have a Shabbat shalom.
It was a great day when a bit
of Israel came to Detroit.
