Jaeger, in the process of promoting
her novel, has scheduled book sign-
ings at stores and meet-the-author
parties arranged by relatives and
friends in their homes. With small
groups, including a reading club that
counts her as a member, Jaeger tells
about various aspects of approaching
this book.
"I wanted the feeling of the Jewish
community, and many of the people
who have read my book and grew up
in other Jewish communities —
Chicago, Milwaukee, Omaha — who
said their [youthful] experiences were
similar to those of one main charac-
ter, Edie," Jaeger explains.
The author, who attended services
at Congregation Shaarey Zedek while
in Detroit, is a member of Valley
Outreach Synagogue, which has a
Reform orientation, uses prayer
books that lean
toward human-
ism and includes
a great deal of
music in services.

event is part of
an annual visit to see relatives and
friends nearby.
"I'm still trying to get an agent,
and I've sent copies to production
companies to see if I could get the
story made into a film," says Jaeger,
who rounds out her life as the grand-
mother of four, a competitor in ten-
nis and golf and a pianist for a
singing group that entertains at sen-
ior residences. "I've also sent copies
to newspapers for possible reviews."

me. I've tried to show good points
and foibles as they attempt to do
