Judaic Classes

Federation's Alliance for Jewish
Education's lifelong learning pro-
gram for adults will offer several
Judaic classes this summer.
"The Secret of the Jewish People:
Revealing the Content of the
Traveling Shtender" will be taught
by Rabbi Judah Isaacs. The class will
be about daily, monthly or yearly
symbols of Jewish life and their
meaning, noon-1 p.m. Wednesdays,
June 18-July 16 at the Max Fisher
Federation Building in Bloomfield
Township.
"The Language of Our People," a
class to examine basic Hebrew
words and concepts that convey the
essential vocabulary of our people,
will be taught by Nira Lev. No prior
Hebrew language experience is
required. This course will be noon-1
p.m, Tuesdays, June 17- July 15,
and 7:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays,
June 18-July 16.
There is a fee for all classes. For

In honor of the new month of Sivan
and the holiday of Shavuot, commu-
nity educator Ruth Bergman will
lead a text study session for women
and girls on Sunday morning, June
8, titled "The Book of Ruth and the
Divine Attribute of GMilut Hasidim
(Loving Kindness)."
This is the final session in this
year's Kedushat Hahodesh series,
sponsored by Eilu v'Eilu with fund-
ing from Women's League for
Conservative Judaism-Michigan
Branch. It will take place at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek West
Bloomfield, B'nai Israel Center in
the library. The program will begin
at 10 a.m. with a short minyan, fea-
turing selections from the daily
morning service, led by Dr. Alissa
Citron. The study session with Ruth
Bergman will begin at about 10:40
a.m. and will conclude at 11:30 a.m.
The program is open to the com-
munity at no charge, and no reserva-
tions are needed.
