Take Pride In Israel At Sunday Event ear something white and blue, and bring the crew for an afternoon of Israeli flag- waving, food and music. From 2:30 to 5:30 Sunday after- noon, June 8, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit hosts Take Pride in Israel, a free outdoor event on the Eugene and Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community Campus in West Bloomfield, Maple and Drake. "Our connections to Israel run deep and strong," says Lisa Lis, who co- chairs the event with Ron Klein. We see this event as an opportunity for the community to gather in celebra- tion and express our pride for all that Israel has achieved and stands for." Headlining the afternoon will be Israeli rock star Michael Harpaz who, with his band, will perform Israeli songs. Live entertainment will feature performances by children's choirs. Attractions for kids will include a climbing wall, a moon walk and face painting. Teens also will find special programs. The fare also includes food sampling as well as Judaica and Israeli artistry for sale. Participants will be invited to write a "Letter Home" to Israeli terror vic- tims of terror. W "It's totally different," said David Koppy, who shares the 3,600-square-foot home with wife Elissa, children, Adam and Falynn, and dog, Shayna. We feel like were living in a brand new home." Armed with a custom set of architectural plans, Gittleman transformed the entire elevation, adding lodge-style cultured stone, preserving and redeploying existing brick, extending the porch and reconfiguring the garage roofline. Throughout the project, the Koppys' daily routine was never disrupted — a critical point considering that David and Elissa run a home-based computer consulting company. Correction In "Mixed Reaction" (May 30, page 12), the comments of Professor Ronald Stockton of the University of Michigan- Dearborn on page 16 should have included the statement: "We do not know what Ariel Sharon means when he says he is willing to accept a Palestinian state. All we have on record is his original proposal for a Palestinian state in 1997 in which he made reference to the A and B zones of the Oslo II agreement. That would be about 45 percent of the West Bank and would not be some- thing that any Palestinian leader could sign. The Israelis made a much different proposal at the Camp David summit in July of 2002. That proposal was probably in excess of 90 percent of the West Bank, not including metropoli- tan Jerusalem. At Taba, includ- ing land swaps, the two parties were talking of a net transfer to the Palestinians of 97 percent of the whole West Bank. Both sides were very optimistic when those talks broke up for the Israeli election." z.M.Maa4i44 The work went so well, in fact, David recommended the company for his sister's home renovation.
