Leor is a double honor student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. She enjoys spending her summers at Tamarack Camps and spending time with friends from Ann Arbor and Hillel. She is also learning Yiddish. Out Of State Meryl Bess Meisner, daughter of Pamela and David Meisner of Cincinnati, Ohio, will be called to the Torah on the occa- sion of her bat mitz- vah on Saturday, May 31, at Adath Israel Synagogue in Cincinnati. Joining her on the bimah will be her broth- ers, Harry, Louis, Nathan, Herbert and Ivan. She is the grandchild of Lillian and Irving Meisner of Southfield and Hotche Pastor of Cincinnati and the late Herbert Pastor. An honor student at Wyoming Middle School in Cincinnati, Meryl loves reading and was on the sev- enth-grade basketball team. As part of her mitzvah project, she plans to volunteer at the Shriner's Burns Hospital in Cincinnati and donate necessary items for Aleh Jerusalem Center for Rehabilitation of Disabled Children. Eliana Michelle Pearl of Sammamish, Wash., was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, May 24, at Temple B'nai Torah in Bellvue, Wash. She and her sister Rachel are the daughters of former Detroiters Jeff and Erica Pearl. Proud grandparents are Stanley Herman of Oak Park, Cyril Friedman of West Bloomfield and Don and Lois Pearl of Farmington Hills. Eliana is also the granddaugh- ter of the late Marilyn Herman and the late Audrey Pearl Feldman. Eliana is a seventh-grader at Beaver Lake Middle School in Issaquah, Wash., where she appeared in the musical Grease. She studies ballet at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts and her mitzvah project involved fund-raising and collecting new and gently used dance accessories to benefit the Into the Arts program for students with special needs.
