Southfield, died May 23, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Wally

Markus; great-grandchild, Austin
Markus.

FREDA C. SCHOCHET, 85, of

Golden Valley, Minn., died May 25,
2003. Born in Rochester, Minn. in
1917, she graduated Cresco Iowa
High School as the class valedictori-
an. On L'ag b'Omer 1943, Freda
married Frank E. Schochet.
After the birth of her third child
in 1951, Mrs. Schochet became
active in her husband's printing
business, ultimately co-founding
Insty-Prints Inc., an international
franchise instant printing company,
where she was vice president and
treasurer from 1965 until 1983,
when the business was sold and she
and her husband retired.
Throughout her life, she was
active in many charitable endeavors,
including Hadassah and Pacer. She
also learned how to type Braille
Nemeth code and transcribed books
into Braille. After her retirement,
she spent four months a year in
Israel, where she volunteered at
Hadassah and Lifeline for the Old,
an organization dedicated to
enhancing the lives of senior citi-

zens.
Mrs. Schochet is survived by her
brother, Joe Cohen, (Fredell); hus-
band, Frank E. Schochet; son, Dr.
Claude L. Schochet (Pesha Rivka);
daughters, Patricia R. Tal (Joseph),
and Dr. Barbara Schochet (Ira
Moskatel); grandchildren, Ariel
Schochet (Sharona), Dr. Elie
Schochet(Abby), Shana Lowell(Ari),
Sarah Ella Broner (Raphael), Aryeh
Leib Tal, Chemda Chana Tal,
Elizabeth Moskatel and Leon
Moskatel; great-grandchildren, Sara
Schochet, Sivya Schochet, Eliana
Schochet, Ayelet Schochet and Meir
Schochet; her son's stepchildren and
other grandchildren. She was the
daughter of the late Sam and Sarah
Cohen; sister of the late Frank
Cohen.
The funeral was held at Hodroff
& Sons Funeral Chapels in
Minneapolis. Her son, Claude, will
observe shivah at his home, 6753
Cottonwood Knoll, West
Bloomfield, from Friday afternoon
until Monday morning, June 2.
Contributions may be made to
Lifeline for the Old via the Schochet
Family Philanthropic Fund at the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.

MILDRED "BETTY"
SCHWARTZ, 83, of West

Bloomfield, died May 24, 2003.
She is survived by her husband,
Adolph Schwartz; daughters and
sons-in-law, Joyce and Jack Polsky of
West Bloomfield, Terri and Leslie
Swartz of West Bloomfield; grand-
children, Dana and Dr. Jeff
Rochlen, Dr. Stefanie and Dr. Herb
