Award in recognition of
his contributions to med-
ical science through
research, teaching, admin-
istration and his practice o
compassionate medicine.
He is professor of medi-
cine emeritus, Wayne State
University School of
Vaitkevicius
Medicine.
His grandfather, Zakavicius Vytautas,
was executed as a political prisoner for
his heroic role in saving Jewish lives and
will be recognized as one of the "World's
Righteous" by the Yad Vashem Institute,
Israel. His name will be inscribed,
posthumously, for posterity on the hon-
orary wall of Yad Vashem.

JPM Offers
Special Events
The Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park will host its spring Glassman party
in the renovated Prentis Hall 1 p.m.
Thursday, May 29.
Sam Barnett and his band will play;
refreshments will be served. There will
be door prizes and gifts for all who
attend. Tickets are $2 for members; $4
for nonmembers. Reservations will be
taken at the front desk.
A trip is planned for Tuesday, June 3,
to see You're A Good Man, Charlie
Brown at Oakland University in
Rochester Hills. The bus will leave JPM
at 8:30 a.m. and return at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $5, payable by check made
out to Oakland University or by cash.
Transportation is $4, payable by cash
only. Tickets will be sold only to indi-
viduals taking the bus.
The JCC invites seniors to the
Detroit Institute of Arts Wednesday,
June 18, to tour "Highlights of the
DIA" with a docent. The bus will leave
at 12:30 p.m. and return at 3:30 p.m.
There is no charge for the museum or
transportation. A $2 non-refundable
deposit is required. The trip is funded
by the Shirley Harris Fund for Seniors.
