Cell phones have become lifelines of assurance that all is well there — at least this time. While security at malls, restaurants, clubs, hotels and other public venues have become commonplace in Israel, most American parents still worry about their children studying abroad. They caution them not to ride buses, to phone home immediately if there's a bombing and to avoid crowded cafes and clubs. Israelis living in America understand more clearly that life goes on, yet still they worry, too.
