For his mitzvah project, A.J. has been volunteering at the Dearborn Animal Shelter for the past two years. The cen- terpieces from his celebration will reflect an animal and pet theme. Her parents are Lori DePriest and Larry DePriest; her brother is Justin. She is the grandchild of Sam and Arleen Blumenstein and the great- granddaughter of Marion Manheimer. Danielle is an honor student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. Her favorite activities include being with friends, attending Tamarack Camps and volunteering. She feels her most meaningful mitzvah proj- ect is volunteering for the Friendship Circle, a program that organizes activi- ties for children with developmental dis- abilities. Jaclyn Brooke Gottesman will cele- brate her bat mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield Saturday, May 17. She is the daughter of Marcy and John Gottesman and sister of Joshua. Her thrilled grandmothers are Fay Chernick and Alice Jean Gottesman. She is also the granddaugh- ter of the late Herbert Chernick and the late Morton Gottesman. Jaclyn is a dedicated student at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. She enjoys participating in dance, skiing and the Student Leadership Council. She loves spending summers at Camp Walden in Cheboygan. One of Jaclyn's favorite mitzvah projects was making lap blankets for the senior citizens at the Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield. Taylor Rachel Kamen, daughter of Susie and Dr. David Kamen, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah Saturday, May 17, at Temple Israel. She is the sister of Dylan and Courtney. Sharing in the simchah will be grandparents Barbara and Saul Kirstein and Sharon Kamen. She is also the grandchild of the late Manny Kamen. Volunteering during a benefit dance for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, through Studio A, was a meaningful experience for her as part of her mitzvah project. Elizabeth Paige Kovan will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, May 17, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Participating in the ceremony will be her parents, Ilene and Bruce Kovan, and her younger sisters Katharine, Rachel, Sarah and Jane. Proud grandparents are Ann Benderoff and Mildred and Dennis Kovan. Her great-grandmother is Ida Lewis. She is also the granddaughter of the late Dr. Fred Benderoff. Elizabeth is a seventh-grade honor student at Cranbrook-Kingswood Middle School in Bloomfield Hills, where she is on the Student Leadership Committee and a member of the cross country team.
