Berman Award

Honors Service

To honor the contribution of outstand-
ing professionals in service to the Jewish
community, the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit invites nomina-
tions for the annual Mandell L. and
Madeleine H. Berman Award, to recog-
nize and encourage initiative and leader-
ship in Jewish communal service.
Those eligible for the award are
Jewish communal professionals
employed by Federation and its partner-
ship agencies, who have been working
in the Detroit Jewish community a min-
imum of five years. Nominees must
have made a significant contribution to
the general good of the Jewish commu-
nity, demonstrating the highest stan-
dards of professionalism, creativity,
innovation, knowledge and dedication
in the services they provide.
Nominations for the Berman Award
are due June 13. For an application

hours to helping assure our organization's mission that no Jewish patient or family facing

terminal illness has to go through their journey alone. •

same time making similar contributions to Kids Kicking Cancer, Federation's Partnership 2000,

Alyn Hospital, and a host of other charitable and civic endeavors.

War Veterans
Sell Poppies

The Michigan Jewish War Veterans
and Ladies Auxiliary joined other
Michigan veteran organizations for the
sale of poppies this week.
Funds collected will be used to assist
patients in veteran hospitals through-
out Michigan as well as to help with
college tuition for descendants of vet-
erans, regardless of race or religion.

Addresses JVS

David A. Brandon, chairman and CEO
of Domino's Pizza LLC, will serve as
honorary chair and keynote speaker for
the sixth annual JVS Strictly Business
networking and awards luncheon 11:30
a.m. June 5, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel
in Dearborn.
Four local employees will be honored
by JVS for their outstanding vocational
accomplishments. The winners have
been nominated by their employers and
selected by a committee of community
volunteers. Rock Financial will be hon-
ored with the JVS Business Leadership
Award in recognition of its exemplary
employment practices.
