Suing Henry Ford
The Rabbi Leo M. Franklin Archives
of Temple Beth El will host Victoria
Saker Woeste, senior research fellow,
American Bar
Foundation,
Chicago, 7:30 p.m.

14, at the temple.

result of research

Ford-Aaron Sapiro

Henry Ford: Anti-
Semitism and Law in Modern
America."
In the mid-1920s, Henry Ford
was the defendant in a libel lawsuit.
Lawyer Aaron Sapiro took Ford to
trial seeking $1 million in damages
after Ford's newspaper, the Dearborn
Independent-, published articles
accusing Sapiro and other Jews of
conspiring to gain control of
American agriculture, perpetrating
Bolshevism and Communism and
attempting to subvert American
democracy.
Woeste will discuss the trial, the
legal and political issues it raised and
new evidence revealing the behind-
the-scenes events that led to the con-
clusion.
Cost of the event is $8. For reser-
vations, make checks payable and
mail to Franklin Archives, Temple
Beth El, 7400 Telegraph, Bloomfield
