Yad Ezra Fetes
Volunteers

To honor the dedication and hard
work of 125 regular volunteers and
board members, Yad Ezra, the
Berkley-based kosher food pantry,
will host a volunteer-board apprecia-
tion dinner Monday, May 12, at the
Shul-Chabad Lubavitch in West
Bloomfield.
Many of the volunteers have been
with Yad Ezra since it opened in
1990. They span the religious, age
and observance spectrum.
Volunteers work one-on-one with
clients and also assist in the office
and help on special projects.
Yad Ezra distributes 60,000
pounds of food to 1,100 families
each month. "Thanks to the corn-
munity's generosity," said Lea Luger
of Yad Ezra, "it is projected that Yad
Ezra will distribute more than
650,000 pounds of food this year to
needy families."

Aid Israel

For those seeking a meaningful,
life-changing volunteer experience,
the Volunteers for Israel-Sar-El pro-
gram in Israel provides the opportu-
nity.
Volunteers from around the world
work together to provide much-
needed manpower in such service
environments as Israeli Defense
Forces service bases, warehouses,
elderly care facilities and hospitals.
Typical volunteer periods range
from two to three weeks. The pro-
gram provides accommodations and
meals.
Sar-El offersthe chance to make
new friends and contribute to the
State of Israel directly.
