KORN KORNER ... From Bonnie
and Scott Raskin in California ...
Abe is showing Solly his new
"Jewish" dog, named Irving. "Irving,
fetch!" Abe commands.
Irving walks slowly to the door,
turns and says, "So_why are you talk-
ing to me like that? You always order
me around like I'm nothing ... and
then you make me sleep on the floor,
with my arthritis.
"Then, you give me this ferkakta food
with all the salt and fat and you tell me
it's a special diet but it tastes like junk!
"And do you ever take me for a decent
walk? No, it's out of the house, do a
quick job and right back home."
Solly is amazed, but Abe disagrees,
"I don't know. I think this dog isn't so
smart. His hearing is no good. I said
`fetch' and he thought I said Ivetch!'"
OLDIE BUT GOODIE Dept. ...
Rusi Arden, of Lake Suzy, Fla., asks,
"Have any of your readers ever been
guilty of looking at others and think-
ing, 'Surely I can't look that old?' If so,
they might enjoy this little story."
After moving to a new town, a
woman was sitting in the reception
room of a dentist, waiting for her first
appointment. The woman noticed his
certificate hanging on the wall, which
bore his full name. Suddenly, she
remembered that a tall, handsome boy
with the same name had been in her
high school class some 40 years earlier.
Upon seeing him when she was finally
called into the treatment room, she
quickly discarded the thought that this
could be the same person.
The dentist was a balding, gray-
haired man with a deeply lined face.
He appeared much too old to have
been her classmate. After he had exam-
ined her teeth, she couldn't help but ask
him if he had attended her high school.
"Yes," he replied.
"When did you graduate?" she asked.
"In 1955," he answered.
"Why, you were in my class!" she
exclaimed.
He looked at her closely and then
asked, "What class did you teach?"
