//494/494 B'nai Moshe Offers Hebrew Conversation Congregation B'nai Moshe will offer a 16-week beginner Hebrew conver- sation class on Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m., starting May 1. The instructor will be community educator Ahuva Newman. All are welcome. Tuition is $320 plus $20 for textbook and study materials. There are tuition discounts for mem- bers of B'nai Moshe and for Jewish educators and Jewish communal agency staffers. Students are welcome to bring their own dairy or parve lunch. If there is sufficient enrollment, this class will run through the summer and as a "Beyond Beginner" Hebrew conversation class in the fall. Jennifer Granholm will speak at the Jewish Theological Seminary dinner Thursday, May 8, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. This year's Shin Award winners are Eugene and Anne Greenstein of Congregation Beth Granholm Shalom, Ira and Kay Harris of Congregation B'nai Moshe, Dr. Abe and Sylvia Pearlman of Adat Shalom Synagogue and Dr. Manuel and Harriet Sklar of Congregation Shaarey Zedek. Rabbi Irwin Groner will be presented with the Rabbi Simon Greenberg Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Ismar Schorsch, chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary, will present the awards. Funds raised at the May 8 event will go for student scholarships. Sixteen Detroit students are enrolled in one of JTS's five schools. An addi- tional eight Detroiters are planning to start this fall.
