Mr. Halem was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Italy as a radio opera- tor in the 1060th Signal Corp, 32nd Service Group. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed baseball immensely. Mr. Halem is survived by Estelle, his wife for almost 18 years; children, Jack, Cheryl and Ronald; stepchildren, Phyllis, Alan and Jeffrey; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, David and Edward. She graduated from Central High School in 1936. Mrs. Levy worked for Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit as execu- tive administrative assistant when it first opened in 1957 and was with Hillel a number of years. Later she was employed with Cass Machine Company of Detroit as office manager and remained with them up to 1988. In the early 1990s, she moved Levy permanently to Century Village, a retirement community in Pembroke Pines. There she continued to enjoy golfing, bowling, bridge, com- munity activities, the many new friends she made and her leisure time. Mrs. Levy is survived by her compan- ion, Harry Weinberger; daughter, Diane Levy-Rubinstein of West Bloomfield; sons, L. Brian Levy of Sunrise, Fla., and Robert Levy of Pembroke Pines; brother, Bert Felzer of Troy; sister, Joan Gordon of Southfield. She was the dear wife of the late Samuel Levy.
