BERKOWITZ, 83, formerly of Oak Park of Leisure World, Laguna Woods, Calif., died March 5, 2003. For almost 40 years, the Berkowitz family owned and operated Mansfield Automotive Parts Co. in Detroit. Mr. Berkowitz was drafted into the U.S. Army in June of 1941 and honor- ably discharged in August of 1945. He was commander of the Jewish War Veterans four times and a quartermaster, a blood bank chairman for B'nai B'rith and a treasurer of that organization, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Mason and Shriner. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; children, Larry, Elaine Fliesher, Richard, Steven, and Dianne Salgado, one grand- daughter; five grandsons; brother, David Berkowitz; sister, Rosie Berkowitz. He was the husband of the late Ruth; brother of the late Fred Berkowitz. EDWARD BRAUN, 91, former Detroiter. of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and North Miami Beach, Fla., died March 25, 2003. He was the owner of a bar and diner in Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Braun is survived by a niece and nephew, Jodie and Mark Cantrell; cousins, Rita and Herbert Packard, Audrey Feldman, Lester Feldman. He was the husband of the late Sid Braun; brother of the late Lillian (Merle) Elley. ABE GORMAN, former Detroiter of San Diego, died April 18, 2003. He was at one time a ball boy at the Detroit Tennis Club, an usher at Navin Field and an enthusiastic Wolverines fan. He was also a member of B'nai Pisgah Lodge and a sales representative for Kroliks Corp. and Nightcraft. BEBE "BEA" DICKSTEIN, 95, of West Bloomfield, died April 15, 2003. Known as Mrs. "D", she was the co- owner of Bobette Shop, in business over 50 years. She was also a member of the Salvation Army, a for- mer Girl Scout and Brownie leader, a member of Temple Beth El and its sister- hood. In addition, she belonged to Zonta- Women's Professional Group and Tuesday Dickstein Musicale in Pontiac, was a member of the Pontiac Symphony Auxiliary, a member of Women's American ORT, one of the co-founders of Michigan State Temple Youth, a member of Temple Beth Jacob in Pontiac and president of its sisterhood and a member of the USO.
