The Mitzvah-Go- Round is the latest in a series of "Dr. B." books, "Dr. B." being the husband- and-wife team of Claire Buchwald and Larry Bogoslaw ("two Ph.D.s in Bloomington, Minn.," is how they describe them- selves). It's filled with cute rhymes that encourage young children to perform mitzvot, mistakenly suggested at first to be "good deeds." (A mitzvah is in fact a commandment.") Sometimes, the rhymes are terrific and quite clever ("Now take out your dangers, your drum and maraca/For in Charity Valley they're giving tzedakah!") and sometimes they're on the verge of being just awful ("Up high in the moun- tains, right next to a cloud/The Tefillin twins stand so tall and so proud./They've climbed that steep mountain. They don't want to miss this!/Their three-year-old brother is getting his tzitzis!")
