Dr. Nate Kleinfeldt of Southfield
introduced to southeast Michigan a
new outpatient laser treatment,
Endoscopic Cyclo Photocoagulation,
to treat glaucoma. He is a cataract and
glaucoma specialist at the Coburn-
Kleinfeldt Eye Clinic in Dearborn.

Dr. Nate Pernick of Bingham Farms,
a board certified pathologist, has
opened a business providing pathology
second opinions and explaining them

Dr. Jeffrey Frederick of Franklin
received certification from the
American Boards of Quality Assurance
and Utilization Review Physicians.

Dr. Jonathan Adam Bielfield of
Bloomfield Hills, son of Jay and Diane
Bielfield, was accepted into an orthope-
dic residency at St. John Oakland
Hospital in Madison Heights. His resi-
dency includes four years of training in
hands, joints, pediatric orthopedics and
trauma through the St. John Health
System.

The Royal Oak Parkinson Support
Group will meet 7-9 p.m. Monday,
April 14, in the Rose Cancer
Treatment Center at William
Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

Stacy Furgang of West Bloomfield was
accepted into the Program for
Veterinary Student Education in
Infectious Diseases Research at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champaign. She is a second-year stu-
dent in the School of Veterinary
Medicine at the school.

Dr. Julius Gardin of
West Bloomfield,
chief of cardiology at
St. John Hospital and
Medical Center in
Warren, received the
Distinguished Fellow
Award for 2003 from
the Society of
Gardin
Geriatric Cardiology.
He is a former presi-
dent of the national society. Gardin
lectures on care and treatment of older
adults with cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Scott Arbit of Wisconsin was
elected president of the Wisconsin
Society of Orthodontists. Arbit is the
son of the late Dr. Saul Arbit of
Detroit and son-in-law of Dr. Ray and
Lee Henkin of Bloomfield Hills.
