The Alumni and Friends Committee of
the board of Hillel of Metro Detroit is
hosting a fundraiser Schmelvis at the
Lenore Marwil Jewish Film Festival on
April 30 at the United Artist Commerce
Film Festival. Schmelvis, is a comedy-
satire searching for Elvis' Jewish roots.
Each general admission ticket is $36.
It entitles the attendee to the pre-glow
and movie. The pre-glow of snacks and
desserts will begin at 7 p.m. in the
upper lobby. The movie begins at 8.
Proceeds will assist in building a
Jewish connection with Jewish under-
graduate and graduate students at
Wayne State University, Oakland
University, Oakland Community
College and Lawrence Technology
University as well as young adults.

The Jewish Women International
Council of Metropolitan Detroit will
host an Antiques Appraisal Fair 11:30
a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Following a sitdown brunch, there
will be a demonstration of appraisal
techniques. Next, professional antique
dealers will appraise free of charge one
collectible item per guest.
A minimum contribution of $36 to
the JWI fund-raising campaign is
required plus $36 admission for the day.
