The sound of Hebrew emanates
from across the room where David
and Susie Aisner tend to 8-month-old
Alex. They live in West Bloomfield
where Susie teaches in the magnet pro-
grams for West Bloomfield Schools.
David, who also works for EDS, spent
four years studying in Israel and now
speaks to Alex only in Hebrew.
"It's funny," he says. "When I see
Alexander, my brain immediately
switches gears and I start thinking in
Hebrew."
With all the links and togetherness
(all five families live within a four-mile
radius), one wonders if the closeness
ever gets stifling. "All isn't completely
rosy with a group this big," admits
Lila. "Of course, you're going to hit
snags along the way. But we don't hold
grudges. We have it out and move on.
In our family, there is none of that 'I
don't speak to that one and I don't

speak to that one.'''
Not only don't the Zorns indulge in
pouting, some portion of them see
each other every day and, if they don't
connect in person, there are the phone
calls. And the weekly girls' nights out,
when Lila, Debi, Susie, Lainie and
Julie go out to dinner or a movie or
drop into West Bloomfield's You're
Fired to paint pottery.
"I was overwhelmed at first," says
Julie, recalling her initiation into the
Zorn Zoo. "I come from a small fami-
ly — two sisters — and I wondered
what I was getting in to. But it's so
wonderful. This family is so loving
and giving. They welcomed me
unconditionally."
The four young moms have worked
out a round-robin sysfem to share
child care and even the dads who can
— Stuart, Houman and David
