CUTTING THE COST
from page C10
rings were mine to keep in the end.
Sale table runners in jeweled tones
added luxury to the extra tables need-
ed for gifts and giveaways.
• T-shirts: T-shirts and wool caps
were given as party favors. The shirts
were bought on-line. Send a piece of
artwork (it could be a drawing, a logo
or a name) and you can get one-color
printing on an all-cotton white shirt
for less than $5 each
(corporatecotton.com or local shops).
The shirts were placed in animal print
velum bags with silver tissue
(papermart.corn).
• Candybars: Buying pre-wrapped
chocolate bars can be pricey. A little
computer work and a piece of artwork
(print shops have some that are ready
to go; a name, photo or logo work
well) and you can color-copy your
own wrappers (be prepared to cut
them out, though).
A quick swipe with a glue stick
keeps the labels tight on bars that cost
about 30 cents each at a warehouse
store.
• Decorations: Butterfly nets and
butterfly garden stakes made perfect
accents for the party. These were pur-
chased at dollar stores months before.
• Party favors: Party favors are fun to
buy. I found pretty butterfly fans (the
butterfly viewing area is hot and humid)
at orientaltradingcompany.com or
search the Internet using the words
"discount party favors" or "party sup-
plies"). Local stores also offer great
sales.
Keep an open mind, there are many
items that can be used for different
themes. 0
