Dearborn. Rabbi Aaron
Bergman officiated. Heidi was escorted
to the chuppah by her parents, Bella and
Paul Brookenthal of Bloomfield
Township. Danny was accompanied by
his parents, Roberta and Stuart Shapiro
of Highland Park, Ill.
The wedding party included matron of
honor Leslie Frohman. Bridesmaids were
Karen Ashbeck, Dorie Fain, Josephine
Lee-Brookenthal, Deborah Lutwak,
Sarah Miller, Karyn Silverstein and Leslie
Spitzer.
Todd Denenberg and Todd Shoemack
were the best men. Groomsmen included
Josh Adler, Keith Brookenthal, Steve
Brookenthal, Joseph Garber, Marc
Ginzberg, James Lederer, Todd Lutwak
and William Silverstein. Witnesses for
the ketubah were Lowell Friedman and
Joseph Garber. Ushers included Steve
Greenwald, Andrew Cohen and Kenneth
Goldman.

While orthodontic treatment is most often associated
with straightening adolescent teeth, there are other purposes
to which this specialized branch of dentistry may be applied.
Consider the case of a person who required treatment to
force the lower canine or cuspid tooth into position after it
failed to erupt. To affect the desired outcome, the patient's
lower teeth were bracketed with an orthodontic button
bonded onto the protruding tip of the unerupted tooth.

Elastic wires were then connected from the brackets to the
button, and replaced monthly. After a period of time the but- Licensed Specialist
ton was removed and a bracket placed on the erupting tooth
until the tooth was in its ideal position and the braces removed. An archwire
linked the bracket to the orthodontic attachments on other teeth and helped
push the tooth upward and in place.

More commonly, an upper canine has insufficient space to properly align
and can give an uncomfortable look of a "fang" tooth. It may have a loss of
space (be trapped) and cause resultant mid-line discrepancies. An upper cus-
pid also may have an improper eruption path, be unable to erupt, or even
have an eruption path that may endanger the health or cause other permanent
teeth to be lost. If a child has most of his permanent teeth with the exception of
an upper cuspid, a consultation with an orthodontist should be made.

Parents with any orthodontic concerns for their child should consult an
orthodontist concerning the need for orthodontic treatment. As a dental spe-
cialist, an orthodontist has elected to limit his practice to this specific area of
expertise and has received additional training by an accredited dental school

married at Temple Israel.
Rabbi Harold Loss, Rabbi Paul
Yedwab and Cantor Harold Orbach offi-
ciated. Sabrina is the daughter of Sheri
and David Jaffa of Bloomfield Hills.
Brian is the son of Karen and Jerald
Kaufman of West Bloomfield.
Eden Elbinger, sister of the bride, was
the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were
Jodi Leib, Melissa Levine and Jillian
Parnos, friends of the bride.
Randall Winston, best friend of the
groom, was the best man. Groomsmen
were Eric Leib, Mark Lebowitz and
Michael Gale, friends of the groom, and
Kevin Elbinger, brother-in-law of the
groom.
The flower girl was Liza Kohlenberg
and the ring bearer was Jared Kohlenberg,
close family friends of the bride.
The couple were honored to have the
bride's grandfather Harold Jaffa, the
groom's grandparents Isabel Kaufman,
Elinor and Nathan Rubin participate in
