Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Jeffrey Keith
Lockwood was called to
the Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Saturday, March
1, at Temple Emanu-El.
Sharing in this special
occasion were his par-
ents, Wendy Appleton
and Robert Lockwood;
grandparents, Henrietta Appleton and
Carolyn and Kenneth Lockwood, and sis-
ters, Emma Lockwood and Lissa
Goldberg. Jeff is also the grandson of the
late Norman Michael Appleton.
Jeff is a seventh-grade honor student at
Norup Middle School in Oak Park. He
plays trumpet in the school and jazz
bands and enjoys playing soccer with the
premier Berkley team, the Force. Jeff is
also goalie for the Berkley Americans ice.
hockey team. For his mitzvah project, Jeff
has been involved with the Huntington
Woods Teen Council and has volunteered
at Yad Ezra kosher food pantry in Berkley.

Sloan, will celebrate his
bar mitzvah on Friday,
March 14, at Temple
Israel. He is the grand-
child of Wilma Martin
and the late Richard Martin, Leon
Gutman and the late Martha Gutman.
Spencer attends Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield. His favorite
activities are skiing, working on the com-
puter and playing basketball. As part of
his mitzvah projects, he and his dog visit-
ed the Danto Family Health Care Center
in West Bloomfield, spending time with
the residents.

Rebecca Michele
Portney will become a
bat mitzvah at Adat
Shalom, Synagogue on
Saturday, March 15.
Her proud parents are •

Portney. Participating
in the ceremony will be
her brothers David and Daniel and
grandparents Betsy and Gerald Loomus
and Rita and Jack Portney.
Becca is a double honor student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. She is on
the tennis and soccer teams and enjoys
skiing and being with friends. Some of
her mitzvah projects include the
Friendship Circle, working at Adat
Shalom summer camp and making a din-
ner for the families staying at the Detroit
Ronald McDonald House.

Stacey Michelle
Puckett, daughter of
Wendy and Donald
Puckett and sister of
Rachel and David, will
celebrate her bat mitz-
vah at Temple Israel
Saturday, March 15.
Her grandparents are
Barbara and Arnold Stone and Jan and
Don Puckett.
Stacey attends Dunckel Middle School
in Farmington Hills. She enjoys spending
time at the computer, watching television
and playing hockey. Volunteering at Yad
Ezra in Berkely was her most meaningful
mitzvah project.

Alec Scott Robbins,
son of Teri and Curt
Robbins, will be called
to the Torah on the
occasion of his bar
mitzvah Saturday,
March 15, at Temple
Israel. His brother
Blake, grandparents
Wanda and Jerry Robbins and aunt Ruth
Mack will share in the simchah. He is
also the grandchild of the late Rose
Rosenbaum.
An honor student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield, Alec
is interested in reading, playing the gui-
tar, video games and drawing/cartooning.
His most significant mitzvah project was
donating funds to and volunteering his
time at the Little Traverse Bay Humane
Society.

March 15, at

Zedek Southfield. She
is the daughter of
Karyn and Barry
Shatzman and sister of Scott. Proud
grandparents are Leo and Iris Rosen.
An honor student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Stephanie enjoys soccer, computers, read-
ing and spending summers at Camp
Tamakwa in Canada. Her mitzvah proj-
ects included volunteering at Yad Ezra in
Berkley and working with JARC residents.

is the son of Missy
and Dr. Eric Spickler
and brother of
Matthew and Teddy
