Hannah is an honor student at
Birmingham Covington School, where
she has been a member of the volley-
ball, basketball and swim teams. She is
also an award-winning member of the
forensics team. For her mitzvah proj-
ects, Hannah worked at Yad Ezra in
Berkley, held a neighborhood can
drive and donated the proceeds to the
American Cancer Society, worked as a
counselor at Safety Town in
Birmingham, participated in numer-
ous activities sponsored by Shaarey
Zedek and donated her hair to make
wigs for children with cancer through
Locks for Love.
Alexandra Eve Galinsky will read
from the Torah on the occasion of
her bat mitzvah Saturday, March 15,
at Temple Israel. She
is the daughter of
Karen Galinsky and
Louis Galinsky and
sister of Monica and
Sydney.
Axie attends West
Hills Middle School .
in Bloomfield Hills.
She plays travel soccer and her team
was in the state cup finals. She
enjoys basketball, volleyball, swim-
ming, diving, snowboarding and
going to the movies. Her most
meaningful mitzvah project was vol-
unteering at Open Hands Pantry in
Royal Oak.
Josh Laker will celebrate his bar
mitzvah on Saturday,
March 15, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek
Southfield. He is the
son of Andrea Laker
and Tom Shessler.
Proud grandparents
are Beverly and
Irving Laker; great-
grandmother is Sarah Laker.
Josh is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit
in Farmington Hills. He is a co-cap-
tain of the junior varsity basketball
team. He has been selected to play
on the Maccabi basketball team this
summer. For his mitzvah projects,
Josh assisted at the Fleischman
Residence in West Bloomfield and at
a JARC home.
