Pact With Syria
Just Plain Wrong

.

Regarding the new Wayne State
University alliance with Syria, the
solution is very simple: The agree-
ment should be terminated and the
reasons are very simple ("It's All
About Syria," Feb. 21, page 24).
Would any university have signed
an agreement in 1943 while we were
waging war against Germany or
Japan? Of course not! We're at war
and fighting for our lives against tet-
rorism, and Syria is a documented,
active terrorist nation. Anything that
enhances or aids Syria in any way
contributes to Syria's ability to aid ter-
rorists and conduct terrorism.
The bottom line is that trading any-
thing with Syria, even if it's lollypops,
is against the interest of the United
States and the rest of the civilized, free
world.

Academy Fosters
Love Of Israel

After reading the article concerning
the Jewish Academy of Metropolitan
Detroit's senior class trip to Israel
("Beyond Incredible," Feb. 28, page

we, the senior class, are to the Jane F.

for offering us this opportunity.
Since our arrival at the Academy,
our dream has always been to visit
Eretz _Yisrael [Land of Israel] with our
classmates. It is not every day that a
senior class has an opportunity to par-
ticipate in an educational program
half way around the world. Over the
course of our two years at the
