"Get the best in brokerage and banking." r ormer Israeli Knesset Speaker and Jewish Agency Chairman Avraham Burg will present the keynote address at the second annual academic Israel conference, "Israel: Piecing Together the Puzzle," Sunday, March 9, at the Michigan League on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. - Billed for the second year as the only academic conference on Israel in the United States," the free con- ference seeks to provide an academic forum conducive to productive dia- logue about the Arab-Israeli conflict and to educate participants about Israeli politics, culture and society. The student-organized conference is being supported by the U-M Hillel and is sponsored by seven University departments and schools and local and national Jewish groups and foundations. U-M seniors Samantha Rollinger of West Bloomfield and David Post of Okemos are event co-chairs. Program highlights also include a panel featuring New York University Professor Arthur Hertzberg and Long Island University Professor Muhammad Muslih focusing on the effect the interaction of Zionism and Palestinian nationalism has had, and will continue to have., on the conflict and prospects for peace. Presenters also include the Chicago-based Israeli Consul General to the Midwest Moshe Ram, Tel Aviv University Professor Dr. Gideon Doron, Mideast analyst and former U-M Professor Raymond Tanter, UCLA Professor Dr. Steven Spiegal and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine Professor Dr. Rachel Yehuda. They will address topics ranging from the environment as a bridge to peace to the psychological effects of terror, the recent Israeli elections and U.S.-Israel relation.
