"Of course, no major surgery has an
absolute guarantee, but the incidence
of complications is very small. The
future technology, using robotic sur-
gery, will be an even greater advance-

"People need to realize that they too
can make efforts to find a live kidney
donor," says Dr. Ehrmann. "Today,
the procedure is much less risky for
the donor. Donors live normal lives
and have a normal life expectancy.
Dr. Ehrmann is following the essen-
tial treatments to help her transplant

tain drugs for the rest of her life to
