A scene from Elida Schogt's `Zyklon Portrait"

SHORT CUTS from page 77
Hamilton of the experimental docu-
mentarian.
"She's a great filmmaker and when
we're looking for jurors for the festival,
we try to pick judges who have differ-
ent fortes. We're really excited about
having her here."
As for Schogt's subject matter,
Hamilton says it is story material that
isn't going away anytime soon.
"We seem to get films every year
that have something to do with the
Holocaust. We actually have another
film this year by Phil Solomon, called

The film is set in 1938 Berlin, when
the Rabbi of Prague is summoned to
again bring the Golem to life.
"It's a very abstract film, but it defi-
nitely has a Holocaust theme," says
Hamilton.
"I think [the Holocaust] really rever-
berates with people. Filmmakers are
out there trying to make work that
speaks to people and speaks to the
world."
