As time passed; he alternated and sepa-
rated painting and sculpture and received
his greatest public attention with his
three-dimensional abstract works.
The artist's 1963-65 sculpture Moses
in Flight, commissioned by the
Canadian government for Expo '67, is
one of his few Jewish-themed works. It
is a symbolic Moses with the 10 ...
Commandments growing out of the
body. The sculpture is in the collec-
tions of the Los Angeles County
Museum, the University of Lethbridge
in Alberta and the Tel Aviv Museum.

Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto," says
Etrog, who does his casting in Israel.
"It was for the closet that holds the
Torah, and I used hands to represent
what humans can do."
The diversity of Etrog's artistic inter-
ests can be noted in just mentioning a
few of his projects that go beyond
sculpture and independent drawings:
the design and illustration of the book
Chocs, by Eugene Ionesco, in 1969;
the writing and directing of the film
Spiral for the Canadian Broadcasting
Corp., in 1976; the planning of the
installation Musicage, celebrating the
70th birthday of composer John Cage,
