WHILE A
YOUNGSTER
helping out his late
dad and mother,
Leo and Estelle
Berlin, owne-rs of
Berlin's Children's
Shop on 6 Mile and Prairie in Detroit
before it moved to Orchard Mall in
West Bloomfield ... he dreamed of
someday becoming a weatherman.
Growing up, Terry Berlin had a
weather station on the roof of their
home in Huntington Woods ... As a
camper at Camp Tanuga, he was up at
6 a.m. to broadcast his daily weather
report ... Growing up, Terry taught
meteorology to campers at Camp
Walden and ran its weather station.
He still has a weather station (now
solar powered) at the home of he and
wife, Sue ... along with a collection of
new and old weather instruments.
Terry never achieved his weather-
man ambition in a professional sense
... but did with another love ... that of
learning the law.
Today, as a prominent attorney, he
recently opened his new offices on
Northwestern Highway in Farmington
Hills ... settling the waters in stormy
personal injury, Social Security and
worker's compensation cases.
MAIL DEPT. ... Some Motown
trivia "Did You Know?" ... From Gail
Shapiro, now living in California ...
That the Supremes were originally
known as the Primettes? ... That the
Temptations were known as the
Primes? ... That the original name of
"My Cherie Amour" by Stevie
Wonder, was "Oh My Marsha?"
WITH ABOUT 500 members
almost equally divided between snow-
birds and year-round residents, the
Michigan Club in Florida continues to
grow ... It meets the third Thursday of
every month at South County Civic
Center in Delray ... For more info, call
Harry Lipsitz, (954) 341-0043 ... or
Bob Fox, (561) 496-2304.
OLDIE BUT GOODIE Dept. ...
From Melissa Wolf-Litvin ... Little
Yossie and his family were having
Sunday dinner at his bubbie's house.
Everyone was seated around the
table as the food was being served.
When little Yossi received his plate,
he started eating right away.
"Yossi, wait until we say our prayer,"
his mother said. "We always say a
prayer before eating at our house."
"That's our house," Yossie explained.
"But this is bubbie's house, and she
knows how to cook!" 0
